Bhubaneswar, 20 April (H.S.): Extensive security and administrative preparations are underway in Rourkela ahead of the visit of President Droupadi Murmu scheduled for Tuesday.
Authorities have ramped up security across the city, particularly around the airport and key routes, as a major public programme is planned at a ground near Rourkela Airport. To ensure seamless movement, a full-scale carcade rehearsal was conducted on Monday along the route from the airport to Panposh. The exercise involved senior officials, central security forces, and emergency response units to prepare for any contingencies.
A robust security deployment has been put in place, including 45 platoons of police personnel, over 800 Home Guards, more than 160 officers, and nine officials of Superintendent of Police (SP) rank. Senior police officers from Bhubaneswar have also arrived in the city to supervise arrangements.
As per the official itinerary, the President will attend a programme at the Tribal Museum. She will later proceed to the Circuit House for a brief halt before departing for the airport around 3:30 PM. From there, she is scheduled to travel to Jharsuguda and subsequently return to New Delhi.
The visit is expected to witness participation from nearly 10,000 school children, along with a cultural dance programme organised as part of the event. Officials stated that continuous reviews are being conducted to ensure the visit proceeds smoothly and securely.
