Malappuram, 20 April (H.S.):UDF candidate from Beypore and Kerala State Convenor of the Trinamool Congress, P V Anvar, on Monday announced that he has severed all ties with the All India Trinamool Congress and resigned from all positions within the party. Speaking to the media, Anvar said a decision had been taken to float a new political party in Kerala, aligning with the ideological vision of Rahul Gandhi.

He said the proposed party would be rooted in secular, democratic, and socialist values, and would strongly oppose both “fascism” and what he termed “Pinarayism,” referring to the politics associated with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Anvar added that the new party would be registered as a state party in Kerala, with a formal launch expected by mid-May.

The decision was taken at a state committee meeting held earlier in the day. Anvar said he had been associated with the Trinamool Congress for the past one-and-a-half years and had worked to build the party structure down to the panchayat level. However, he alleged that the national leadership failed to extend the expected support to the Kerala unit.

He further claimed that while the Trinamool leadership had initially expressed openness to cooperating with the Congress, it later backtracked. According to Anvar, the party conveyed its inability to support any political move aligned with the Congress due to political constraints in West Bengal.

Anvar also pointed out that during the Beypore election campaign, the party declined his request to send a national-level leader, citing its unwillingness to share a platform with Congress leaders.

Stating that continuing under such constraints was untenable, Anvar said the state committee unanimously resolved to cut all ties with the national leadership and move forward independently, with a focus on Kerala-specific political priorities.
