April 20 (HS): A 30-year-old man was reportedly beaten to death by his father-in-law
and his accomplices in a village here over an eight-year-old quarrel resulting
from his marriage to the latter's daughter, police said on Monday. According to
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Kumar Singh, the victim,
Bharat Yadav, had eloped with and married Ashok Pandey's daughter eight years
earlier, causing hostility between the two. According to the victim's father,
Chhote Lal, Yadav had recently returned to Chhota Adhara village when Pandey,
along with 3-4 others, reportedly assaulted him and beat him numerous times in
the head with the buttstock of a country-made handgun, killing him on Sunday
night, according to the ASP.
Police
are undertaking raids to catch the fleeing suspects, and officers have been
deployed in the area to preserve peace and order, he added. The deceased's body
has been submitted for a post-mortem examination, and additional investigation
is continuing, he said.
