Kolkata, 20 April (H.S.): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Shantanu Sinha Biswas, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Kolkata, for questioning at the CGO Complex office following a raid at his residence. The agency has also summoned his two sons for interrogation, asking them to appear by Tuesday (21 April).
Sources reveal that there are indications of alleged connections between Shantanu Sinha Biswas and notorious figures such as Sona Pappu of South Kolkata and Jay Kamdar, a businessman from Behala, who has been involved in illegal financial dealings. Shantanu’s sons are said to be associated with educational institutions, and it has also come to light that they have ties with Jay Kamdar. The ED is trying to determine whether there were any financial transactions between the police officer, his sons, and the arrested businessman, Kamdar. This is the reason why both the officer and his sons have been summoned.
Meanwhile, investigators have found evidence of financial transactions between Sona Pappu and Jay Kamdar. Kamdar, who was arrested after extensive questioning on Sunday, was later hospitalized due to health issues and is expected to be presented in court on Monday.
It is worth noting that Sona Pappu, the main accused in a recent disturbance case in Ballygunge, has not been arrested yet. An earlier inquiry was conducted involving an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer in connection with this case. On Sunday, the ED conducted a raid at Shantanu Sinha Biswas’s residence on Fern Road. The agency claimed that Shantanu was not present at the time, although one of his sons informed the media that officials had questioned their father.
