Islamabad, 19 April (H.S.):

Amid surging diplomatic fervor in Pakistan's federal capital, Islamabad, the Rawalpindi district administration has finalized a sweeping security blueprint, imposing stringent restrictions to safeguard the region.

Senior police official Khalid Hamdani confirmed the measures, stating they will take effect from midnight tonight. Addressing a crucial meeting chaired by Hamdani, authorities reviewed existing security protocols, with station house officers from all Rawalpindi precincts in attendance.

Armed police checkpoints will blanket the district, permitting entry only after thorough searches and verification of valid identification. Public transport within Rawalpindi city stands fully suspended, while inter-city terminals and bus stands will shutter to passengers. Heavy vehicles face a strict ban within city limits, all markets—big and small—must close, and petrol pumps will halt operations post-midnight.

These robust steps form part of a coordinated security response tied to the intensified diplomatic engagements in Islamabad, placing law enforcement on high alert across key sites with multi-layered surveillance and enforcement mechanisms.
