The annual Waterhole Census of wild animals ‘Nisarga Anubhav 2026’ at the
Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) will be conducted on May 1, The Buddha Poornima
Day. The even offers a unique opportunity to nature lovers to experience
overnight observation of wildlife from ‘Machans’ set up near waterholes in the
buffer zone of the TATR.
Online registration
for participating will be open on the official website from 11 am on April 21 to
5 pm on April 22. The participant should be between 18 and 50 years of age. A
total of 57 Machains will be available with a maximum of two persons per Machan
will be available on the first come first served basis. The reservation will be
confirmed only after successful online payment of the fee with the application form.
TATR has reduced the
fee from last year’s Rs 4,500 to Rs 3,500 per Machan, which includes Rs 500 for
registration, and Rs 3,000 Rs 1,000 guide charges and Rs 2000 Gypsy charges payable
at the Safari Gate.
The selected
participants will have to report at 4 pm at their allotted entrance gate on May
1. The observation will conclude at 6 am on May 2. Transportation inside the
gate will be provided by the TATR authorities.
