New Delhi, 17 April (H.S.):
In a significant stride toward sustainable urban mobility, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off 200 new electric buses and inaugurated the Delhi-Rohtak inter-state bus service at the East Vinod Nagar Depot ceremony today. She also unveiled a new bus terminal at Madanpur Khadar and opened an administrative building at the DTC East Vinod Nagar Depot, with Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh in attendance.
Gupta emphasized the government's unwavering commitment to transforming the capital into a greener, smarter, and cleaner metropolis. With this addition, the DTC fleet has swelled to nearly 6,300 buses, including these 200 zero-emission vehicles dedicated to public service from East Vinod Nagar.
Operating in mission mode, the administration aims to fully electrify Delhi's public transport, having already surpassed 4,500 electric buses; the target stands at 7,000 by the end of 2026. The new Delhi-Rohtak route, passing through ISBT Kashmere Gate and Peeragarhi Chowk, will connect key stops like Tikri Border, Bahadurgarh, Rohad, Sampla, and Rohtak Bus Stand, enhancing regional eco-friendly connectivity.
