New Delhi, 12 April (H.S.):

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, led the 69th edition of 'Fit India Sundays on Cycle' on Sunday at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. During the event, he emphasized fitness's pivotal role in nation-building, urging citizens to join the Fit India Movement and adopt active lifestyles to realize the dream of a developed India.

Dr. Mandaviya stated that Sundays on Cycle has evolved into a national movement, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, fostering greater fitness awareness among the country's youth. The Prime Minister's 'Fit India' message transcends mere rhetoric—it is an imperative for a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India).

Underscoring fitness's significance, Dr. Mandaviya remarked that for India to emerge as a developed nation, its citizens—especially the youth—must prioritize health. Healthy individuals forge healthy societies, which in turn build prosperous nations. He appealed to every citizen, particularly the youth, to participate in the 'Sundays on Cycle' initiative and propagate the 'Fit India' ethos.

The Minister also highlighted integrating fitness with sustainability via the 'Fit India App', where users earn 'carbon credits' through cycling. This initiative promotes eco-friendly mobility while rewarding healthy habits, allowing accumulated credits to be redeemed for purchases.

The event brimmed with enthusiasm—pulsing music, Zumba sessions, yoga activities, skipping rope, tug-of-war, and diverse fitness games transformed it into a vibrant wellness festival. Participants spanned all ages: students, professionals, and athletes.

Rachgiri Foundation presented street plays under the State Youth Leaders theme, spreading social awareness messages.

Additionally, the Ministry of AYUSH's Yoga 365 initiative featured yoga consultation centers, where attendees benefited from expert-guided sessions.
