The former Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, breathed his last late Saturday night at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in Dhaka while undergoing treatment.

BARC has expressed profound grief over the demise of Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque and extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.

According to a report in the Dhaka Tribune newspaper, the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council stated that the nation has lost an exceptional agricultural scientist and farsighted leader whose contributions significantly propelled the country's agricultural research sector forward. The council prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and for strength to the family to bear this irreplaceable loss.

He was renowned in Bangladesh as a preeminent expert in farming systems research and sustainable rural agricultural development. He authored several books. In 2013, he was honored with the prestigious Agricultural Alumnus Award by Purdue University in the United States.
