Dehradun, April 12 (H.S.) — A total of 30 trekkers stranded on the Chandrashila route in Rudraprayag district due to a sudden storm and snowfall have been safely rescued. Teams from the police, SDRF, district disaster management, and forest department carried out the rescue operation.

According to officials, at around 5:30 pm on Saturday, Dial 112 received information that about 25–30 tourists were stuck in the middle of a storm and snowfall, posing a serious threat to their lives. Following the alert, the administration immediately swung into action.

Under the coordination of the district administration, teams from Kotwali Ukhimath, Chopta outpost, SDRF, district disaster management, and the forest department were dispatched to the location. Despite difficult terrain and poor visibility, the forest department team and police personnel tracked the trekkers’ location and reached them.

All 30 trekkers stranded in the severe storm were safely rescued and brought back to Chopta, from where they were later sent towards their respective destinations.
