
Bhubaneswar, 11 April (H.S.): In a major and sensational development, a youth from Bhubaneswar has been detained by a Special Branch team of the Delhi Police over alleged links with Pakistan and suspected involvement in anti-India activities.
The accused, identified as Imam, was picked up from the Capital Police Station area in Bhubaneswar following a coordinated operation. According to sources, Delhi Police had been monitoring his activities for some time before tracing his location.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the youth was allegedly spreading anti-India propaganda through various social media platforms. He is also suspected of having been in contact with extremist elements, raising serious concerns among security agencies.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a special team from Delhi arrived in Bhubaneswar, conducted the operation, and detained him for further questioning. He has since been taken to Delhi, where agencies are expected to interrogate him in detail to determine the extent of his alleged network and activities.
The incident has raised alarm over the increasing misuse of digital platforms for anti-national activities and the possibility of cross-border connections. Security agencies are now investigating whether more individuals are linked to the case.
In a press statement, the Commissionerate Police said the probe began about a week ago when Delhi Police detained a group of young individuals in Delhi for suspicious activities linked to social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Signal. During interrogation and analysis of their online presence, investigators uncovered links extending to Odisha.
