Imphal, 11 April (HS): A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was killed in a gunfight between Kuki and Naga insurgent groups in Manipur’s Ukhrul district, officials said on Saturday.

The incident took place at Mongkot Chepu area under Litan Police Station limits, where armed cadres of the two rival insurgent groups reportedly exchanged heavy gunfire.

During the clash, Constable Mithun Mondal of the 170th Battalion of BSF, who was on duty in the area, lost his life. Security forces have launched a search operation in the region following the incident.

Officials stated that the situation in the area remains tense, and additional security personnel have been deployed to prevent further escalation.-----------
