New Delhi, 08 March (H.S.): m New Zealand women's pace spearhead Lea Tahuhu has retired from ODI cricket after a stellar 15-year career, during which she claimed 125 wickets for the White Ferns—cementing her status as the team's all-time leading wicket-taker in the format.

In an official statement from New Zealand Cricket on Sunday, Tahuhu deemed this the opportune moment to step away from ODIs, while committing to continue in T20Is. Wearing the White Ferns jersey in ODIs has always been an immense honour, she reflected.

Playing over 100 matches for my country and family was beyond my wildest dreams. The 2024 T20 World Cup triumph stands as a pinnacle achievement; I cherish every moment and depart with profound pride.

White Ferns head coach Ben Sawyer hailed her contributions: Lea's express pace was formidable, but her competitiveness and team-first zeal set her apart, profoundly influencing emerging bowlers. He noted her statistics speak volumes, establishing new benchmarks for Kiwi seam bowling in ODIs.

Tahuhu debuted against Australia in 2011, with her final ODI versus England at the ICC Women's World Cup 2025. Across 103 matches, her haul underscores a legacy of excellence.
