Bellary, 31 March (H.S.):

Indian kabaddi player Sonali Shingate emphasized scientific training and recovery as crucial for elevating performance ahead of the 2026 Asian Games during the ongoing national camp for the Indian women's kabaddi team at the Inspire Institute of Sport here.

Shingate, part of the gold-winning 2025 Kabaddi World Cup team in Dhaka and the 2018 Asian Games silver medal squad, highlighted the camp's novel focus on strength and conditioning.

With nearly a decade of experience, Shingate noted the camp—running since March 27—incorporates scientific methods with equal emphasis on recovery: Training is intense, but managed recovery helps the body adapt quickly, reducing injury risks that were higher in the past due to inadequate workload management.

Runner-up with Indian Railways at the recent 72nd Senior Women's National Kabaddi Championship in Hyderabad, she stressed balancing training and recovery for elite-level success.

The high-performance camp, concluding April 2, fosters healthy competition between veterans and youth, with seniors inspiring juniors to raise the team's overall standard.
