WTO MC14 Ends Without Deal on E-Commerce Tariff Moratorium Extension

New Delhi, 30 March (H.S.):

The World Trade Organization's 14th Ministerial Conference wrapped up Monday in Yaounde Cameroon after four days with no consensus on extending the moratorium barring customs duties on electronic transmissions like digital downloads.

Cameroon Trade Minister and MC14 chair Luc Magloire Mbarga Atanga hailed ministers' tireless efforts on X noting commitments to push major pending issues forward at WTO headquarters in Geneva.

Delegates tackled fisheries subsidies TRIPS non-violation complaints and e-commerce work program but time ran out on flashpoints including the duty freeze vital for digital trade flows.

Atanga thanked over 90 ministers and 2000 officials for advancing talks across negotiation pillars despite the impasse on these high-stakes items now deferred for headquarters-level work.
