Prime Minister Narendra Modi will jet into Uttar Pradesh today to unveil a game-changer for Indian skies, beginning with an 11:30 a.m. walkthrough of the Noida International Airport terminal in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, before the noon inauguration of Phase I and a public rally to rally the faithful. This Rs 11,200 crore public-private partnership marvel will emerge as Delhi-NCR's essential backup to the clogged Indira Gandhi International Airport, propelling the region toward elite global aviation status.
The greenfield giant will roll out a 3,900-meter runway geared for wide-body aircraft, complete with Instrument Landing System precision and all-weather lighting to enable nonstop operations. It will handle 12 million passengers per year from the start, with potential to expand to 70 million, while its multi-modal cargo hub will process 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually—scalable to 18 lakh—supported by a 40-acre MRO facility to boost repairs and trade flows.
Positioned along the Yamuna Expressway, the airport will integrate road, rail, metro, and regional transit into a seamless network for passengers and freight. It will pursue net-zero emissions through energy-efficient designs and eco-friendly practices, with architecture inspired by traditional Indian ghats and havelis to fuse heritage with high-tech infrastructure.
PM Modi's visit today will spotlight India's infrastructure momentum, aligning NCR's rapid growth with the nation's drive to lead Asian aviation. Commercial flights will likely take wing by May, transforming Jewar into a bustling dynamo on the world map.
