President Murmu Calls on CPES and IES Officers to Play Pivotal Role in Nation Building

New Delhi, 27 March (H.S.):

President Droupadi Murmu has urged officers of the Central Power Engineering Service (CPES) and the Indian Economic Service (IES) to shoulder a key responsibility in India’s nation‑building journey. Speaking at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday, the President emphasised that these officers are at the forefront of the country’s progress and that their decisions will help make India stronger and more self‑reliant.

Addressing a group of CPES and IES officers, Murmu asked them to work with commitment, passion and a sense of purpose, treating every challenge as an opportunity. She stressed the importance of innovation and continuous learning, encouraging them to adapt to a rapidly changing global and domestic landscape.

The President noted that electricity lies at the heart of industrial growth, technological advancement and improvement in living standards, and that CPES officers are playing a vital role in generation, transmission and distribution, thereby strengthening the country’s energy architecture.

On the economic front, the President underlined that sound policy‑making and effective implementation have become more critical than ever. She said IES officers will play a central role in ensuring sustainable development, controlling inflation, generating employment and reducing inequalities.

“Behind every number there is a human story,” she remarked, adding that the true test of economic policy is not just the statistics, but its real‑life impact on people, especially the most vulnerable and marginalised. The President urged the officers to keep the interests of the poor and disadvantaged at the core of their work and to help build an inclusive, equitable and prosperous India.
