
New Delhi, 27 March (H.S.): Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada introduced the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill 2026 in the Lok Sabha on Friday. The bill seeks to amend certain laws by removing minor offences from the criminal category and rationalising them further.
Jitin Prasada tabled the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill 2026 in the Lok Sabha today incorporating recommendations from a select committee. Its main goal is to tweak provisions decriminalising petty offences making business and daily life even smoother.
The key aim is to take minor technical or procedural violations out of the crime bracket converting jail terms for over 78 laws into fines instead. This pushes trust-based governance to boost ease of living and doing business.
