New Delhi, March 26 (H.S.): Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is responding well to treatment for a systemic infection and remains under medical supervision at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, hospital authorities said on Thursday.

Hospital Chairman Dr Ajay Swaroop said Gandhi, who was admitted on the night of March 24, is being treated with antibiotics and is responding positively to the treatment.

He said she is under the supervision of a team of senior doctors who are closely monitoring her health condition.

Sources said the 79-year-old leader is likely to remain under observation for a few more days as a precautionary measure. Her condition is stated to be stable and not serious.

Gandhi was admitted to the hospital after developing fever symptoms, with sources attributing her illness to weather-related factors.
