26 March (HS): Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya

Pradesh, Digvijay Singh, arrived in Ayodhya on Thursday on the occasion of Ram

Navami. He visited the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, offered prayers to Lord Ram

Lalla, and also paid obeisance at Hanumangarhi. Upon his arrival in Ayodhya,

Congress workers welcomed him at the airport.

Speaking

to the media at Maharishi Valmiki Airport, Ayodhya, he said it was his good

fortune to visit Ayodhya on Ram Navami. He spoke of praying for the happiness

and prosperity of the countrymen. He dismissed allegations of opposition to the

Ram Temple and said he had contributed Rs. 1, 11,000 for the construction of

the Ram Temple. He declined to comment on the US-Iran tensions and petrol and

diesel prices internationally, saying he was on a religious pilgrimage and

would not discuss politics today.

After

paying his respects to Ram Lalla, he said, It was a great pleasure to worsahip

him. We prayed to Lord Ram for prosperity and harmony to prevail throughout the

country. He added, I never opposed the construction of the Ram

Temple.
