Paris/Beirut, 26 March (H.S.):
Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, French President Emmanuel Macron has reiterated France’s full backing for Lebanon, vowing sustained and comprehensive support “at every level.” Asserting that France will stand by Lebanon in all circumstances, he pledged to continue providing all possible assistance to the war‑torn nation.
Macron made the remarks following a conversation with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. Commending the steps taken by the Lebanese government to manage the prevailing situation, he said these measures would help bolster the country’s sovereignty. He emphasized that France remains committed to supporting Lebanon’s efforts to defend its institutions, its civilians, and its territorial integrity.
Amid the growing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, France has also made clear that it will continue to deliver humanitarian aid to displaced civilians. French officials said the assistance will cover urgent needs including shelter, food, medical supplies, and basic services for those forced to flee their homes.
France has long been one of Lebanon’s key partners on security, and Macron reiterated Paris’s continued support for the Lebanese army and internal security forces. He announced that in the coming days, France will supply armored vehicles to the Lebanese armed forces to enhance their operational capacity and bolster the country’s internal security architecture.
Security analysts say France’s renewed backing could play a critical role in preserving regional balance and reinforcing Lebanon’s security apparatus. Many experts describe the French commitment as both a geopolitical signal and a practical effort to help stabilize a country that sits at the crossroads of multiple regional rivalries.
With the situation along Lebanon’s southern border remaining volatile, Macron’s statement is being read in diplomatic circles as a clear effort to deter further escalation and to reinforce Lebanon’s resilience at a time of heightened regional uncertainty.
