Kolkata, 26 March (H.S.) : A sudden fire broke out at a chips factory in the Chandipur area under Bhangar police station on Thursday morning, causing panic in the neighbourhood. Firefighters rushed to the scene and quickly brought the blaze under control, averting a potential major disaster. No casualties have been reported.

According to local sources, workers arriving at the factory in the morning spotted smoke and flames inside the premises and immediately informed the Bhangar police station. The police reached the site promptly, and a fire engine was dispatched to tackle the fire. Quick action by the firefighting team helped contain the blaze within a short time.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the fire. However, Bhangar police have launched a detailed inquiry to ascertain the exact cause.

Earlier this year, in January, a major fire had occurred at a warehouse in Nazirabad, Anandapur. The fire at a decorating company’s warehouse spread to a momo company’s storage facility, destroying both warehouses completely and claiming nearly 25 lives. In comparison, timely intervention in the Bhangar incident prevented a similar large-scale tragedy.
