
Guwahati, 26 March (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Ashokashtami.
In his social media message, the Chief Minister said that the sacred festival, observed on the Shukla Ashtami of the Chaitra month, holds deep spiritual and cultural significance. On this day, devotees take a holy dip in the Brahmaputra River and offer Ashoka flowers, praying for relief from sorrow and misfortune.
He noted that the festival reflects the rich traditions, faith, and spiritual ethos of the society. Sarma expressed hope that the occasion would further strengthen devotion and cultural values among the people.
The Chief Minister also prayed for peace, happiness and prosperity in everyone’s lives with the blessings of the Almighty.----------
