
New Delhi, 25 March (H.S.):
Domestic bullion markets saw spot silver surge dramatically Wednesday opening strong and climbing steadily through the session. By noon it had jumped roughly 15000 rupees from opening levels hitting or nearing 250000 rupees per kilogram across most regions.
Silver grew costlier by 14800 to 18100 rupees per kilogram in various markets trading between 249800 and 260000 rupees per kilogram.
In Delhi it rose 14800 rupees landing at 250000 rupees per kilogram. Mumbai Ahmedabad and Kolkata quoted 249800 rupees while Jaipur Surat and Pune held at 250100 rupees per kilogram.
Bengaluru saw 250300 rupees Patna and Bhubaneswar 249900 rupees. Hyderabad gained 18100 rupees reaching 259900 rupees per kilogram. Chennai topped the chart up 18000 rupees at a peak of 260000 rupees per kilogram.
Global futures on Comex reflected the momentum too.
At noon Indian time April gold delivery climbed 148.50 dollars or 3.38 percent to 4550.50 dollars per ounce. May silver leaped 3.76 dollars or 5.41 percent to 73.33 dollars per ounce.
Bullion expert Mayank Mohan credits easing geopolitical tensions for propping up international gold and silver prices alongside Comex gains. Weakening dollar appeal fueled the metals while rising industrial demand particularly bolsters silver.
