St Vincent, 24 March (H.S.):
Australia's women's cricket team clinched a commanding 3-0 series whitewash against West Indies on Monday evening (Indian time Tuesday morning) thanks to Georgia Voll's blistering maiden T20I century. Rain-shortened the match saw Australia triumph by 40 runs under Duckworth-Lewis-Stern rules after posting a mammoth total.
Voll smashed her way to 100 off just 52 balls featuring six towering sixes propelling Australia to 7-211 their highest T20 score since 2023 and fifth overall. The 22-year-old opener joined elite company alongside Meg Lanning Beth Mooney and Alyssa Healy as the latest Australian to notch a T20I ton. Sophie Molineux chipped in with a brisk 25 off 12 balls for the second-highest contribution.
Chasing a revised DLS target West Indies stumbled early losing three wickets in the powerplay against Australia's varied attack. They never recovered trailing well behind when rain intervened. Lucy Hamilton claimed her first T20I wicket while Alyssa Perry ended a long drought in the format. Voll even bowled her international debut over though vice-captain Tahlia McGrath fell cheaply.
West Indies captain Hayley Matthews snared three wickets with the ball but her side's batting collapsed unable to build partnerships. Australia now shifts focus to the three-match ODI series starting Friday in St Kitts where both teams will vie for supremacy in the longer format.
