New Delhi, 23 March (H.S.) :

The Supreme Court on Monday disposed of a petition filed by Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk's wife Anjali challenging his arrest.

During the hearing, the Centre informed the court that Wangchuk's charges under the National Security Act were dropped on March 14 and he has been released. A bench led by Justice Arvind Kumar remarked that the petition no longer holds any substance.

The Centre confirmed to the Supreme Court that Wangchuk faced NSA charges invoked after his September 26, 2025 arrest. Wangchuk had been pushing for full statehood for Ladakh amid violence that left four dead in firing.
