New Delhi, 23 March (H.S.):
The Supreme Court heard a petition Monday seeking installation of India's national emblem, the Ashoka Pillar, atop the court's main dome.
Chief Justice Suryakant, during the hearing, said the administration would consider the demand. The plea came from Varanasi's 'Baba Khatarnak'.
The CJI noted the new Supreme Court building would incorporate the national emblem. When Baba pressed about the current structure, CJI suggested writing a letter instead of filing a petition – they'd review it administratively. He directed the court secretary general to place the matter before relevant officials.
