Abu Dhabi, 23 March (H.S.): An Indian national sustained minor injuries after debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell in Abu Dhabi’s Al Shawamekh area, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, as tensions continue to escalate amid the ongoing West Asia conflict.

Authorities confirmed that the injury occurred after the UAE’s air defence systems successfully intercepted a missile targeting the capital. The injured Indian citizen reportedly suffered minor wounds and received medical attention.

In an official statement, the Abu Dhabi Media Office said authorities responded immediately after debris fell following the interception and urged the public to rely only on official information and avoid circulating rumours.

The UAE Ministry of Defence said the country’s air defence systems intercepted multiple Iranian aerial threats, including 25 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and four ballistic missiles in the latest wave of attacks.

Officials stated that the military remains on high alert and continues defensive operations to counter missile and drone threats.

Large Number of Interceptions Reported

According to official figures released by UAE authorities, since the beginning of the escalation, the country’s defence systems have intercepted:

-

1,773 UAVs

-

345 ballistic missiles

-

15 cruise missiles

The figures indicate the scale of aerial threats faced by Gulf countries as regional tensions continue to impact security and global energy markets.

Growing Concern for Indian Diaspora

The incident also highlights concerns regarding the safety of the large Indian expatriate population living and working in the Gulf region. Authorities have not reported any serious injuries to Indian nationals so far, but the situation is being closely monitored.

Regional Tensions Continue

The latest developments come amid continuing hostilities in West Asia, with several Gulf nations strengthening air defence preparedness following repeated missile and drone incidents.

Security agencies in the UAE have reiterated that the situation remains under control and that preventive defence measures are functioning effectively.
