New Delhi, 23 March (H.S.):

The Delhi Legislative Assembly brought a congratulatory resolution on Monday honoring Prime Minister Narendra Modi's completion of 8,931 days as head of government – first as Gujarat Chief Minister then as India's PM.

Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta addressed the House extending heartfelt congratulations to the nation's longest-serving executive head. He noted Modi has surpassed former Sikkim CM Pawan Kumar Chamling's 8,930-day mark through combined tenures – not just a number but proof of 25 years' unbroken public service.

Gupta highlighted Modi's journey from taking Gujarat CM oath on October 7, 2001, to becoming PM on May 26, 2014 – a saga of singular dedication. He's the first non-Congress PM to secure full Lok Sabha majorities for two straight terms and return for a third. Under his leadership over 25 crore Indians escaped poverty and the nation rose to the world's fourth-largest economy.
