Rudraprayag, 22 March (H.S.):
The world‑famous Kedarnath Temple has been transformed into a snow‑covered haven after recent heavy snowfall, with the entire Kedarnath valley now buried under a thick white blanket. In the face of sub‑zero temperatures, Uttarakhand Police and the Indo‑Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have stepped up security arrangements, keeping the shrine area under constant watch even as the weather remains extreme.
Security agencies are conducting regular patrols around the temple complex and adjoining sensitive zones, ensuring that the environs remain impregnable despite the harsh conditions. Troops deployed at Kedarnath are operating at a high level of vigilance, discharging their duties with discipline and resilience.
To keep operations smooth, personnel have taken to manually clearing accumulated snow from their barracks and surrounding areas, preventing weather disruptions from affecting monitoring and response systems.
The combined security force at Kedarnath Dham is not only focused on maintaining law and order but is also prepared to handle challenges arising from the weather, including landslides, snow blockades and movement restrictions. Officials say the forces remain fully alert and ready to respond to any contingency, with continuous surveillance in place across the temple region.
The soldiers’ high morale and sense of duty continue to reflect the motto of “Friendship, Service and Security,” even as heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures test their endurance.
