New Delhi, 20 March (H.S.): Ahead of the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been hit with another major setback, as Australian all‑rounder Jack Edwards has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2026 season due to a foot injury.Edwards, 25, was signed by the Hyderabad franchise for ₹3 crore during the IPL auction and was set to make his league debut in 2026.
According to ESPNcricinfo, he was the only uncapped overseas player picked at the 2025 auction, marking a promising start to his T20 career. The right‑arm seam‑bowling all‑rounder made his T20 international debut for Australia against Pakistan in January 2026, scoring five runs in his sole outing so far.
In domestic cricket, he has played 63 Big Bash League matches, picking up 38 wickets and scoring 696 runs.Edwards’ absence compounds SRH’s woes, coming shortly after the revelation that regular captain Pat Cummins will also be unavailable for the early part of the season as he continues to recover from a lumbar stress injury.
In Cummins’ absence, the franchise has appointed Indian wicketkeeper‑batsman Ishan Kishan as captain for the opening phase of the tournament.Sunrisers Hyderabad will open their campaign in IPL 2026 on March 28 against reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and the loss of Edwards puts added pressure on the team’s depth and balance.
