Guwahati, 02 March (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma paid heartfelt tributes to noted flutist and folk exponent Pandit Prabhat Sarma on his Punyatithi, recalling his immense contribution to the state’s musical heritage.

In a social media message, the Chief Minister described the late musician as a revered figure in Assamese folk music whose melodies through ensembles such as Panchajanya and Devgandhar brought national and international recognition to Assam. He said Sarma’s timeless creations enriched the cultural fabric of the state and etched his name in history.

Dr Sarma further noted that from theatre to cinema, the maestro’s contributions to Assam’s musical landscape continue to inspire budding artistes. He added that the people of Assam will always remember and cherish the legacy of the distinguished musician.-----------
