
Imphal, 18 March (HS): In a continued crackdown on banned militant outfits in Manipur, police and security forces have arrested three active cadres belonging to different organizations from various parts of the state over the past 24 hours. Security personnel also recovered several items from their possession during the operations.
According to a statement issued by the Manipur Police Headquarters, one of the arrests was made from the Singtom area under Sugnu Police Station in Kakching district, where Elangbam Abinash alias Rakesh (21), an active cadre of the banned RPF/PLA, was apprehended. He is a resident of Hiyanglam Makha Leikai in Kakching district.
In another operation carried out on the same day, Mutum Ranjan Singh alias Mangal (46), associated with the banned KCP (PWG), was arrested from near Irilbung High School at Bamon Kampu under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district. A mobile phone and a scooter were seized from his possession.
In a separate action, Taorem Arunkumar Singh (32), an active member of PREPAK (Pro), was apprehended from the Kanchipur area under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district. Security forces recovered a mobile phone and an Aadhaar card from him.
Meanwhile, search operations and area domination exercises continue across the state, particularly in sensitive and border areas, leading to the recovery of arms and ammunition.
Security arrangements have been intensified to ensure the safe movement of essential goods. recording to the official sources, a total of 326 vehicles carrying essential commodities were escorted along National Highway-37 under strict security cover.
Additionally, 114 checkpoints and barricades were set up across various districts in both hill and valley regions of Manipur. However, no detentions were reported at these checkpoints during the period. ----------
