(HS): Medical Superintendent of Nagpur’s Regional Mental Hospital. Dr Satish

Humne was suspended by Deputy Director of Public Health Dr Shashikant

Shambharkar, for dereliction of official duty.

Dr Humne is

charged with irregularities in administration for a considerable period.

Besides suspension, Dr Humne has been transferred to Gadchiroli District

Hospital. Deputy Superintendent Dr Amrish Mohabey has been handed over charge

of Superintendent.

During a surprise

visit by Health Minister Prakash Abitkar to the Mental Hospital, he observed

that the premises is not cleaned, many employees were pound absent, patients in

ward were seen sleeping on floor, kitchen was not maintained properly. The

rules relating to suppliers of food and drugs were violated. OPD which was

expected to be operating from 9 am to 5 pm was functional till 1 pm only.

Difference in actual stock and related register also was noticed by the

minister.
