
Abu Dhabi, 01 March (H.S.): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Defense revealed that since the onset of Iranian attacks on February 28, 2026, the nation's air force and air defense systems have confronted 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles, and 541 drones.
According to the ministry, the vast majority of these threats were neutralized mid-air.Of the 165 ballistic missiles, 152 were successfully shot down, while 13 plummeted into the sea. The two cruise missiles were also detected and destroyed.
Regarding drone assaults, 506 out of 541 were intercepted and obliterated, though 35 crashed within UAE territory, causing property damage.
On the second day of attacks, early morning operations saw UAE Air Force and air defenses destroy 20 ballistic missiles, with eight more falling into the sea. During this period, two cruise missiles and 311 drones were also downed. However, 21 drones managed to reach populated areas.
The ministry reported three fatalities among Pakistani, Nepali, and Bangladeshi nationals. Additionally, 58 individuals sustained minor injuries, including Emiratis, Egyptians, Ethiopians, Filipinos, Pakistanis, Iranians, Indians, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans, Azerbaijanis, Yemenis, Ugandans, Eritreans, Lebanese, and Afghans.
Debris from intercepted missiles and drones inflicted light to moderate damage on civilian properties across various parts of the country.
'Citizen Safety Remains Top Priority'
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the armed forces are fully prepared to counter any potential threats. The statement underscored that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors is the utmost priority, with no compromises allowed.
Amid escalating regional tensions, the UAE expressed confidence in its air defense capabilities while maintaining vigilant oversight of the situation.
