England's Triumph Revives Pakistan's Hopes for T20 World Cup Semifinal Spot

New Delhi, 28 February (H.S.): Pakistan's semifinal aspirations in the ICC T20 World Cup Super 8 stage received a dramatic lifeline after New Zealand suffered a four-wicket defeat to England in Colombo. In Group 2, Pakistan holds just one point so far. Their match against the Kiwis was abandoned due to rain, and they lost to England earlier. Had New Zealand won this encounter, Pakistan would have been eliminated even with a victory in their final game.

England's comeback victory, however, has opened the door for Pakistan. Captain Salman Agha’s side must now thrash Sri Lanka by a massive margin in their last match to surpass New Zealand on net run rate.At one point, New Zealand appeared poised for victory, restricting England to 117/6 in 16.5 overs with 43 runs needed off 19 balls. But England's batters unleashed furious aggression in the closing overs, flipping the script and paving the way for Pakistan.

If Pakistan bats first:

Scores 103-150 → Must win by at least 63 runs

Scores 151-198 → Must win by at least 64 runs

Scores 199-246 → Must win by at least 65 runs

If Pakistan chases:

Target 115-123 → Chase in 12.4 overs or fewer

Target 124-132 → Chase in 12.5 overs or fewer

Target 133-142 → Chase in 12.6 overs or fewer

Target 143-152 → Chase in 13.1 overs or fewer

Target 153-163 → Chase in 13.2 overs or fewer

Target 164-175 → Chase in 13.3 overs or fewer

It's clear Pakistan needs not just a win, but a resounding one. All eyes are now on the Pakistan-Sri Lanka clash, where net run rate will decide the fourth semifinalist.
