
Moscow/Tehran, 28 February (H.S.): Amid escalating Middle East tensions, Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers held a telephone conversation initiated by Tehran today on Saturday, discussing the latest regional developments and the US-Israel military actions against Iran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi informed his Russian counterpart about steps taken by Iranian leadership to counter the aggressive actions by the US and Israel. He noted that these attacks have once again disrupted ongoing talks for a peaceful resolution to Iran's nuclear program.Araghchi also mentioned that an emergency United Nations Security Council meeting has been convened to address the current situation at the international level.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov condemned the US and Israeli strikes on Iran as an unprovoked armed assault. He stated that the actions violate principles and norms of international law, posing grave threats to regional and global stability and security.
Lavrov stressed the immediate need to halt all military attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran and revert the situation toward political and diplomatic solutions.
He affirmed Russia's readiness to assist in finding peaceful resolutions based on international law, mutual respect, and balanced interests across various platforms, including the UN Security Council.
