27 Feb (HS): The Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Backward Classes met on
Friday under the chairmanship of the commission's chairman, Rajesh Verma.
Vice-Chairman Sohan Lal Shrimali and commission members were present. The
meeting discussed in detail various issues related to the upliftment and
development of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
The
meeting reviewed the OBC welfare schemes implemented by the state government,
and emphasized ensuring that the benefits of the schemes effectively reach the
eligible communities. The Commission also discussed complaints received
regarding reservations for Other Backward Classes in employment and educational
institutions. Representations received regarding inclusion and exclusion of
castes were also discussed.
It
was decided at the meeting that a district-wise review would be conducted to
determine whether the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) were receiving 100% benefit
from various state government schemes. A consensus was reached on preparing a
detailed report in coordination with the relevant departments. The Commission
stated that the government is committed to the social, educational, and
economic empowerment of the OBCs, and the Commission will continue to play an
active role in this direction.
