New Delhi, 27 February (H.S.):

Patiala House Court approved bail for 14 Jawaharlal Nehru University students arrested during a demonstration outside the Ministry of Education, ordering release on bonds of ₹25,000 each.

Delhi Police had sought judicial custody after presenting the students Friday, alleging the unsanctioned march by around 300 from JNU campus turned violent, breaching barricades and injuring officers through shoving and assaults.

Police highlighted prior protest involvement, warning of recidivism risks amid ongoing probe.

Students' counsel countered they seek investigative cooperation, offering written undertakings, swaying the court post-arrests on February 26. Authorities noted the procession lacked permits, escalating when protesters defied barriers, damaging property and prompting forceful dispersal.
