Brisbane, 27 February (H.S.):
Cricket legend Meg Lanning, retired from international duty since 2023, joins Australia's support staff as development coach for next month's Under-19 women's tri-series in Queensland against England and Sri Lanka.
The March 30-April 18 event across Brisbane and Gold Coast marks Lanning's second coaching stint, following last year's Lanning vs Perry series; she'll collaborate with head coach Kristen Beams, assistants Lisa Keightley, and Clive Rose.
Pathway to 2027 World Cup
A 14-player squad—featuring senior domestic debutants like Ira Aery, Eva Baird, Mia Barwick, Alyssa Dermody, Eva Drury, Ayla Johnson, Shiloh Julian, Aurora Mavros, Indira Pannell, Emily Powell, Chelsea Sonter, Ayaka Stafford, Philippa Sueci, and Tegan Williamson—eyes the 2027 U19 Women's T20 World Cup in Bangladesh and Nepal.
Beams praised the balanced selection, emphasizing summer form and eligibility; national development head Sonya Thompson anticipates breakthroughs against formidable foes, building on semis in prior editions.
