Jammu, 27 February (H.S.): In a major success against property theft and missing mobile phone cases, Jammu South Police has recovered 16 stolen vehicles, salon equipment worth Rs 10 lakh and 196 missing mobile phones, while arresting three accused in separate cases.

The details were shared by SP Jammu South Ajay Sharma during a press conference held at Police Station Gandhi Nagar this afternoon. He was flanked by SHO Gandhi Nagar Jaipaul Sharma and other senior officers.

The vehicle theft investigation was initiated following a complaint lodged on February 8, 2026, by SgCT Viney Kumar, who reported that his Hero Splendour motorcycle (JK02CT-8948) had been stolen from outside Sachdeva Boutique. Accordingly, an FIR was registered at PS Gandhi Nagar and a special investigation team headed by PSI.

Using CCTV footage and human intelligence, the police arrested Mansa Choudhary, son of Nawab Din, and Abdul Rehman, son of Rashid Ahmed, both residents of Channi Himmat. On their disclosure, police not only solved the instant case but also recovered 15 more stolen motorcycles worth Rs 12 lakh.

In another case registered at PS Gandhi Nagar, acting on a complaint by Mohd Wajid, son of Mohd Shahid, a resident of Rajouri and presently living at Bathindi, police solved a major theft in which three pedicure and manicure chairs, three hair-wash salon chairs and five haircut chairs, collectively worth Rs 10 lakh, had been stolen from a salon. The accused Ash Mohd alias Ashu, a resident of Uttarakhand, was arrested and the stolen property was recovered on his disclosure.

Meanwhile, the special ESU team of Jammu South Police headed by SgCT Rishi Abrol recovered 196 missing mobile phones worth Rs 68 lakh using technical analysis and other investigative means. Out of these, 36 mobile phones – including 10 iPhones and 26 Android devices – have already been restored to their rightful owners.
