
New Delhi, 26 February (H.S.): India's benchmark indices navigated early turbulence to post marginal gains in initial trade, with Sensex up 0.12% at 82,375.13 and Nifty advancing 0.16% to 25,522.45 by 10 AM, buoyed by robust IT buying despite fleeting sell-offs.
Both opened strong—Sensex at 82,418.78 (+142.71 pts), Nifty at 25,556.30 (+73.80 pts)—before dipping within 10 minutes amid profit-taking, only rebounding on fresh investments. Shriram Finance surged 1.87%, trailed by Tech Mahindra (1.53%), Infosys (1.32%), Max Healthcare (1.22%), and HCL Tech (1.03%); Adani Enterprises (-0.42%) lagged with HUL, Coal India, Axis Bank, and Nestle.
Active trading spanned 2,612 stocks: 1,917 green (gainers), 695 red (losers); Sensex's 30 saw 19 advances vs 11 declines, Nifty's 50 had 36 upticks against 14 drops.
Wednesday's close: Sensex +0.06% (82,276.07), Nifty +0.23% (25,482.50).
