New Delhi, 26 February (H.S.): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully extradited fugitive Anil Kumar Reddy Yeddula from the United Arab Emirates via Interpol coordination. The accused was brought from Dubai to Hyderabad on Thursday and handed over to Andhra Pradesh Police at the airport.
CBI stated that Reddy, wanted by Andhra Pradesh Police, faces multiple cases of fraud, criminal breach of trust, and criminal intimidation. Dubai Police escorted him to India, where he was transferred to state authorities at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
CBI's International Police Cooperation Unit collaborated with the Ministry of External Affairs and Interpol's Abu Dhabi office to complete the extradition. Acting on Andhra Pradesh Police's request, the agency secured a Red Notice from Interpol on September 5, 2022.
Notably, Interpol coordination has facilitated the return of over 130 wanted criminals to India in recent years.
