
New Delhi, 25 February (H.S.): Indian shuttler Akarshi Kashyap delivered a stellar performance on Tuesday in the women's singles category at the German Open Super 300 badminton tournament, securing her spot in the main draw.Ranked 62nd in the world, Akarshi Kashyap dispatched Chinese Taipei's Li Yu-hsuan in the qualifier match with a one-sided 21-10, 21-15 victory.
The contest remained firmly under Akarshi's control throughout.She will now face another Chinese Taipei player, Huang Yu-hsun, in the main draw.This US$250,000 prize money tournament also features prominent Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and silver medalist from the World Junior Championships, Tanvi Sharma.
Li Yu-hsuan started the match positively, but after a 4-4 tie, Akarshi Kashyap reeled off points to lead 9-4 and then 16-8, clinching the first game comfortably.
In the second game, Li mounted a brief challenge, narrowing the gap from 8-14 to 12-14, but Akarshi Kashyap offered no respite, sealing the straight-games win to confirm her main draw entry.
