Jammu, 25 February (H.S.): The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a disproportionate assets case against a Police Inspector following allegations that he accumulated assets worth crores of rupees beyond his known sources of income.

Officials said a verification conducted by the ACB revealed that the officer, identified as Vijay Singh Choudhary, a resident of Nonial in Nowshera area of Rajouri district and presently posted in the Union Territory of Ladakh, allegedly acquired more than 10 properties, including houses, shops and around 100 kanals of land, mostly in the names of his family members and relatives.

On the basis of the findings, they said, a case under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered as FIR No. 02/2026 at Police Station ACB Central, and investigation was taken up.

During the probe, search warrants were obtained from the Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu, following which ACB teams conducted raids at multiple locations, including his residential houses at Santokh Vihar in Kaluchak area of Jammu and at Nonial in Nowshera, besides business premises including a stone crusher and tile factory at Tutte-di-Khui in Bajalta area of Jammu, officials said.

Some other locations in Jammu were also searched under Section 185 of BNSS, they said, adding that incriminating documents were recovered and seized during the searches, and further investigation is in progress.
