Dhaka, 23 February (HS): Lieutenant General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman on Sunday assumed charge as Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of Bangladesh’s Armed Forces Division (AFD).

According to official reports, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman conferred upon him the rank badge of Lieutenant General at a ceremony marking the occasion.

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan were present at the event.

Lt Gen Rahman was commissioned into the Bangladesh Army’s Corps of Infantry on June 21, 1991. During his career, he has held several key positions, including General Officer Commanding of the 24 Division, Military Secretary and Director General at the Directorate General of Defence Purchase.
