New Delhi, 08 November (H.S.): President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and several other prominent leaders on Sunday extended warm Diwali greetings to the people of the country.

In her message posted on X, President Murmu wrote, “On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, I extend my greetings and best wishes to all Indians living in India and abroad. This festival also marks the advent of Ram Rajya. Conveying the message of the triumph of good values over evil tendencies, the festival is also an occasion to renew our faith in the end of all forms of suffering and the beginning of a happy and prosperous life.

“On Diwali, Lord Ganesha, the bestower of auspicious beginnings and well-being, and Goddess Mahalakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity, are worshipped, with prayers for the happiness and well-being of all. I wish that every citizen of the country enjoys good health, happiness and prosperity; that the environment remains protected; that the ideals of harmony and brotherhood grow stronger; and that our younger generation, inspired by patriotism and guided by exemplary Indian values, enthusiastically contributes to building a Viksit Bharat.”

The Vice-President said Diwali symbolises the universal triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and truth over falsehood. It serves as a reminder of the eternal ideal of “Satyameva Jayate” — truth alone triumphs. He expressed hope that the festival would bring happiness, peace and prosperity to every household and further strengthen the bonds of unity and harmony.
