Shivsagar (Assam), 08 November (HS): Sensation prevailed in Nazira after the body of an Assam Police personnel was recovered from the playground of the Nazira District Sports Association on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Nipon Medhi, a personnel of an Assam Police battalion.

According to preliminary information, he is suspected to have died by suicide after allegedly shooting himself with his service rifle. The circumstances leading to the incident are yet to be ascertained.

Police have initiated an investigation into the incident to establish the exact cause of death.------------
