Hooghly, 07 November (H.S.): The famous Kali Puja of Raghu Dakat in Singur, Hooghly district, is one of the region’s oldest and most traditional religious celebrations. Dating back several centuries, the puja attracts a large number of devotees every year. Special arrangements are being made at the historic Dakāt Kali Temple ahead of the upcoming Shyama Puja.

According to temple sources, special religious rituals will be conducted over four days, from November 8 to November 11. The celebrations will include special worship of Goddess Kali, homa-yagna (fire rituals) and Nar-Narayan Seva (community service and distribution of food). Devotees from distant areas are expected to visit the temple during the celebrations.

This year, the temple and its traditional puja are also expected to witness some significant developments. On Saturday, Singur MLA Arup Kumar Das visited the temple, offered prayers to Goddess Kali and reviewed the preparations and overall arrangements for the upcoming festivities.

Following his visit, the MLA made a major announcement regarding the temple and its puja in the coming days. His announcement has sparked discussions about possible changes and new initiatives concerning this centuries-old religious tradition. However, further details of the proposed changes are yet to be officially disclosed.

Blending history, local folklore and deep religious faith, Raghu Dakat’s Kali Puja continues to hold a special place in Singur’s cultural and religious heritage. Temple authorities are expecting a large turnout of devotees this year as well.
