Faridabad,07 November (H.S.): Parmjeet Dhankhar, Asia Head at technology major Tech Mahindra, was allegedly shot dead following a parking dispute with his neighbour in Sector 21C of Faridabad, Haryana. The accused, identified as Monu Sharma, allegedly opened fire around 15 times using his licensed pistol, with nine bullets hitting Dhankhar and killing him on the spot. According to police, the two families had been involved in a prolonged dispute over parking arrangements and a dog relieving itself in the parking area.
According to the police, Dhankhar had returned home from Singapore on November 5 to attend his nephew's wedding, scheduled for November 24. On Friday night, shortly after returning from the gym, he reportedly got into an argument with Monu over parking his vehicle in the designated parking space.
Dhankhar allegedly asked Monu to move his car, which had been parked in the space allotted to him. The disagreement soon escalated into a heated confrontation. Monu allegedly arrived with his licensed pistol and fired repeatedly at Dhankhar.
According to Surajkund Police Station SHO Prahlad, Dhankhar's family lived on the first floor of Building No. 641 in Sector 21C, while the accused's family occupied the third floor. The two families had reportedly been involved in repeated disputes for some time.
Prahlad said one of the major sources of friction was the accused's son allegedly allowing his pet dog to defecate in the parking area. Dhankhar's son, Shaurya, frequently objected to this practice. The issue had also triggered an altercation between Shaurya and Monu four to five days before the fatal incident, although the matter was subsequently resolved.
Dhankhar frequently travelled to Singapore for professional commitments, while his family continued to reside in Faridabad. He had returned from Singapore on November 5 and had recently joined a gym after arriving home.
According to the SHO, when Dhankhar returned from the gym on Friday night, he found Monu's vehicle parked in the space allotted to him. When he asked Monu to move the car, another confrontation broke out. Monu allegedly brought his licensed pistol to the parking area and, as the argument intensified, opened indiscriminate fire at Dhankhar, killing him on the spot.
Following the shooting, the accused allegedly fled along with his family. Police and Crime Branch teams have launched a search operation to trace and apprehend him.
SHO Prahlad said that police personnel, Crime Branch officials and forensic experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reached the crime scene after receiving information about the incident. Several empty cartridge cases were recovered from the spot. Preliminary investigations indicated that approximately 15 rounds had been fired.
Based on a complaint filed by Shaurya, police registered a case against the main accused, Monu Sharma alias Mohan, his wife Divya, son Mayank, daughter Naina and brother Hetram. Further investigation is underway.
